A Tale of Two Watches

My much-loved aunt Vi died in June, 2004. Soon after, my uncle gave me her watch, which happened to be identical to mine. As I held her watch, I sensed how different it felt from my own. My aunty Vi’s watch radiated a soft and gentle energy whilst mine felt more assertive.

Curious about the difference, I conducted a little experiment. Placing the watches on  a table for a few hours so they would both be settled to room temperature, I asked my uncle to close his eyes and then placed one of the watches in his hands. Without hesitation, he accurately identified his wife’s watch. I then repeated the experiment with my mum, with the same result.

Since I loved my aunt dearly, I decided to wear her watch instead of mine. I found its presence extremely comforting in my grief. After several months, my aunt’s energy dissipated, and I felt the watch had become my own. This is simple psychometry.

Curiously, back in 1985, long before I committed to studying consciousness, I’d had another “watch” experience. It was during one of my mother’s visits to London, just before I left to take up my consultant post in Swansea. I had scheduled readings for us both with a medium in Wimbledon. Just before leaving my house, a letter arrived announcing that my sister in Devon had just had a baby. We were shocked at the news since we hadn’t even known she was pregnant.

As my mother was a complete non-believer, I had arranged for her to be seen first so she couldn’t accuse me of briefing the medium ahead of her. Mum emerged from her session looking both shocked and contrite. Apparently, the medium had asked  if she could hold Mum’s wristwatch to tune into her energy. On taking it, the medium said, “This isn’t your watch.” She was right. I had given the watch to my mother two weeks before. The medium then asked for my mother’s glasses and within seconds told her that she had just had a grandson and even gave her my sister’s married name.
