Can Our Pets Communicate Telepathically?

Fido’s Saviour

In 2010, my mum, who by then needed carers, was living with me and Fido, my third Jack Russell.  Since I was still working as a full-time consultant, I arranged for carers to visit Mum daily. One day, when I was at work, one of the carers left my field gate open, and Fido escaped. Thankfully, help was on the way in the form of my friend Elizabeth Watkins.

A keen dog lover, Elizabeth is a delightful, empathic woman with a large heart and a beautiful French accent. Elizabeth and I had trained in spiritual healing together. However, due to work and domestic commitments, we only saw each other occasionally.

On the day Fido escaped, Elizabeth was visiting a garden centre just eleven  kilometres from my house when she had a premonition that Fido was in trouble. Abandoning her shopping, Elizabeth raced to her car and drove to my house. She told me that every time she rationalized that her anxieties were probably unfounded, the car seemed to turn its wheel so that she continued towards my house and away from hers. Elizabeth arrived to see Fido, who was clearly lost, frantically running around at the far end of the village green. She called his name, and Fido raced towards her and jumped straight into her arms.

What was strange was that Elizabeth had started her journey to my house before my mum noticed Fido was missing. I have often wondered if this telepathic incident between Fido and Elizabeth was similar to that which Hans Berger and his sister experienced. Or was it just a bizarre coincidence?

According to world-renowned biologist Rupert Sheldrake, author of the book Dogs Who Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home, there is a strong telepathic connection between humans and animals that defies present-day scientific understanding. Sheldrake also believes that after-death communications (ADCs) with deceased pets is not uncommon and his research suggests that ADCs with non-human animals has  parallels with human ADCs (see sheldrake.org). In my own limited experience, I think he’s right. If this area interests you, I highly recommend Sheldrake’s book, his website, and Eternally Yours, Faithfully, by Roy Radford and Evelyn Gregory.

I am also in agreement with the Psychic lawyer Mark Anthony, author of The Afterlife Frequency, who believes that animals have souls and are part of the collective consciousness. Mark Anthony’s books and YouTube presentations are a must for anyone who wants to hear how science explains much of the occult, and his lectures are also exceptionally well presented and full of humour.
